We'll monitor current events and trends, then pass along only critical information that may have "slipped through the cracks". We feel our newsletters build partnerships to assist gain and retain access to resources, including the knowledge and skill to efficiently use them, thus empowering our partners, our communities, and ourselves. DISABILITY/AGING COMMUNITY NEWSLETTERS
- Disability/Aging Action Alerts [ARCHIVE]
Alerts to assist individuals and organizations throughout the Minnesota disability and aging community to participate in issues facing the community. These are primarily legislative alerts, but could also involve providing feedback and/or support to agencies, organizations, and individuals. These will be sent as needed. Often, there will only be one per month. Generally, they may be sent more frequently during the legislative session to encourage participation. Still, it is unlikely there will be more than one per week.
- Disability/Aging Information Requests [ARCHIVE]
Requests for information, resources, recommendations, feedback, and so on related to products, services, programs, and other aspects of the disability and aging community. The primary purpose of the list is professional and community networking. These will be sent as needed. It is unlikely there will be more than two per month.
- Disability/Aging Community Events [ARCHIVE]
Announcements, reminders, and updates regarding events throughout the Minnesota disability and aging community. Generally, these will only be sent once per week.
- DSP/PCA/HHA/NAR/CNA Twin Cities' Opportunities Newsletter [ARCHIVE]
Announcements and information for direct support professionals (DSPs), personal care assistants (PCAs), home health aides (HHAs), registered nursing assistants (NARs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and consumers about employment opportunities (i.e. consumers looking for DSPs, DSPs looking for consumers) around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Currently, messages will only be sent as needed, perhaps three times a year or once a quarter. As activity increases, it may be published as frequently as once per week on Sunday.
- SPECIAL TOPIC: Minnesota Independent Living Community Marketing Group (MILCMG) [ARCHIVE]
This is a special mailing list for individuals and organizations interested in developing, implementing, and maintaining a framework to efficiently perform marketing and outreach activities throughout the independent living community (e.g. disability and aging communities). Topics may include, but are not limited to, identifying consumers and their needs; developing individualized, consumer-directed, programs, services, and/or products; building distribution strategies to address isolation and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) impacts; evaluating the satisfaction of consumer needs; plus, balancing consumer needs and third-party payer concerns. The primary purpose of the list is professional and community networking and coordination. Messages will be sent as needed. It is unlikely there will be more than four per month.
- SPECIAL TOPIC: Supported Independence Partnerships -- Direct Support Service Stakeholder Information System (DS3IS) [ARCHIVE]
This is a special mailing list for individuals and organizations exploring the creation of a non-profit organization toward developing, implementing, and maintaining programs, infrastructure, technology, and information to assist direct support consumers, professionals, and providers to more efficiently and affordably network for employment, scheduling, management, billing, and payroll purposes. The proposed non-profit is not intended to replace home health care agencies (HHCAs) or personal care provider organizations (PCPOs), simply to assist them efficiently and affordably coordinate human resources and promote consumer-direction. The primary purpose of the mailing list is individual, professional, and community networking and coordination. Direct support consumers (DSCs), direct support professionals (DSPs), direct support provider organizations (DSPOs), disability/aging community stakeholders, and non-profit experts are encouraged to join. Messages will be sent as needed, potentially occurring weekly.
- SPECIAL TOPIC: Disability/Aging Dating, Romance, and Sexuality Program Development [ARCHIVE]
This is a special mailing list for individuals and organizations working to develop, implement, and maintain programs providing public awareness, education, and information relating to dating, romance, and sexuality in light of the effects of disability/aging. The primary purpose of the list is individual, professional, and community networking and coordination. Messages will be sent as needed. It is unlikely there will be more than two per month.
