Disability and Intimacy -- Myths

DESCRIPTION: This workshop was a short panel discussion followed by a question-and-answer session facilitated Mr. Gary Karp. Mr. Karp is an internationally recognized public speaker, corporate trainer, author, and journalist. He has authored several books, including "Disability and the Art of Kissing" and "Life On Wheels".

Ms. Corbett Laubignat (Peer Mentoring Coordinator with the Metropolitan Center for Independent Living) discussed long-term relationships in the context of disability. Mr. Nick Wilkie (Transition Specialist with the Metropolitan Center for Independent Living) discussed tips for dating in the presence of disability. And, Ms. Twyla Misselhorn (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute at United Hospital plus Spinal Cord Injury Support Group Facilitator for meetings held bi-monthly at Courage Center) discussed options for intimacy.
